The Rega Planar 6 RS is fitted with the advanced RB880 precision tonearm, featuring an upgraded vertical bearing constructed from a low-mass aluminium and stainless-steel assembly. This refined design significantly enhances both stability and rigidity, ensuring exceptionally accurate tracking across the record surface. The tonearm is expertly factory-fitted and precisely aligned with Rega’s latest reference Nd9 moving magnet cartridge, delivering outstanding clarity, balance and musical detail straight out of the box.
The motor drive system has been upgraded with a CNC-machined aluminium dual pulley, paired with twin reference EBLT drive belts for improved start-up performance and superior speed stability, comparable to the Rega Planar 8. The included Neo PSU MK2 power supply offers convenient electronic speed selection, advanced anti-vibration control and fine electronic speed adjustment. Drawing on technology previously reserved for the Rega RP10, the Neo PSU ensures consistent rotational accuracy and refined motor performance.
Building on the success of the Rega RP8 and RP10, the Planar 6 RS is the first Rega turntable to utilise a Tancast 8 polyurethane foam core plinth—an ultra-lightweight material originally developed for the aerospace industry. This advanced core is sandwiched between newly developed high-pressure laminate (HPL), which is remarkably thin yet exceptionally rigid. The plinth is finished in Rega’s striking Polaris matt grey, complemented by a high-gloss polymer black edge trim, combining technical innovation with elegant aesthetics.
Designed to reproduce vinyl with absolute precision, the Planar 6 incorporates a machined single-piece aluminium sub-platter, a hand-tuned 24V motor matched to its dedicated Neo power supply, and a custom drive pulley fitted as standard with Rega’s upgraded drive belt. The Neo PSU utilises RP10-derived DSP (digital signal processing) technology built around a high-stability crystal. This system generates an exact frequency signal and a near-perfect sinusoidal waveform to drive the motor, producing a balanced 24V AC output with less than 0.15% distortion. Completely unaffected by fluctuations in mains voltage, this sophisticated circuitry powers the integrated anti-vibration system beneath the turntable, ensuring exceptional speed accuracy and sonic performance.
